"This publication and the accompanying facsimiles have been issued in conjunction with the exhibition "'Jackson Pollock, early sketchbooks and drawings' held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from October 22, 1997 to February 8, 1998" Limited edition of 525 copies. The Metropolitan's three sketchbooks by Jackson Pollock, which date from about 1937 to about 1941 and document an experimental and formative period for this major Abstract Expressionist, are here published in a limited, numbered edition in facsimile form, presented in a rich, luxurious deep-brown cloth box. Each sketchbook facsimile is bound with chrome spiral bindings, as were the original sketchbooks, and stored on a separate tray in the box. They are accompanied by a booklet of essays, as well as comparative illustrations that provide detailed information about Pollock's sources for most of the drawings. The edition is limited to 525 numbered sets. New and sealed in original publisher's shipping box.
